Come again. Debut novel by Peep Show's Robert Webb

The debut novel – a time-travelling story of love and adventure – from the number one bestselling author of How Not To Be a Boy and star of Peep Show.

You can’t fall in love for the first time twice.

Kate’s husband Luke – the man she loved from the moment she met him twenty-eight years ago – died suddenly. Since then she has pushed away her friends, lost her job and everything is starting to fall apart.

One day, she wakes up in the wrong room and in the wrong body. She is eighteen again but remembers everything. This is her college room in 1992. This is the first day of Freshers Week. And this was the day she first met Luke.

But he is not the man that she lost: he’s still a boy – the annoying nineteen-year-old English student she first met. Kate knows how he died and that he’s already ill. If they can fall in love again she might just be able to save him. She’s going to try to do everything exactly the same…

Duffy’s Thoughts on Come Again

Come Again is the story of Kate, who in her 40’s suddenly loses her partner. She is on a path of self destruction, until one day she wakes up, and instead of being in her messy bedroom littered with wine bottles, she wakes up in a dorm room in 1992. Kate gets the chance to change the past.

I loved Come Again. It’s smart, sad, funny and the little observations of daily life are instantly relatable. Kate was a great character and I was in her corner from the first chapter. I also enjoyed the internal dialogue of which Peep Show is famous for. A standout read that manages to bounce from middle-aged grief to teenage angst to fantasy seamlessly. It shouldn’t work, but it does.

Robert Webb has done a brilliant job here, and if you enjoyed The Two Of Us or Me Before You, you’ll enjoy Come Again

A great read if you’re looking for a book to dive into and lose yourself for a bit whilst in self-isolation.
