Those People book review. From the author of Our House, Louise Candlish. How far would you go to silence a bad neighbour.

From the author of the international bestseller Our House, a new novel of twisty domestic suspense asks, “Could you hate your nneighbour enough to plot to kill him?”

Lowland Way is the suburban dream. The houses are beautiful, the neighbors get along, and the kids play together on weekends.

But when Darren and Jodie move into the house on the corner, they donʼt follow the rules. They blast music at all hours, begin an unsightly renovation, and run a used-car business from their yard. It doesn’t take long for an all-out war to start brewing.

Then, early one Saturday, a horrific death shocks the street. As police search for witnesses, accusations start flying–and everyone has something to hide.

Duffy’s Thoughts On Those People

I’ve read quite a bit of non-fiction lately and wanted to get back into a bit of thriller and suspense. Those People follows the irritating and self absorbed residents of Lowland Way who live beige lives in ignorant suburban bliss, that is until the Booths turn up.

Those People takes a while to get going and I had to re-read a some paragraphs as some of the female characters kind of blurred into one and it took me a while to get the couples all paired up in my head. But, once I got that sorted and drama started to unfold in the street, I quite enjoyed the read.

My blood boiled at some of the behaviours on both sides of the perfect tree-lined Lowland Way, these are not good people. Well, maybe save for Sissy, who I had the most empathy for. There are plenty of twists and turns along the way and for a while, any of these seemingly normal neighbours could be hiding their murderous and vengeful ways.

I can picture Those People becoming a two-part series on the ABC as a domestic thriller. But, I’m not sure it will be one that I remember in months to come.

Overall a fun, suspenseful and rage inducing domestic thriller.
