the perfect girlfriend book review

An addictive thriller which is unsettling, and unhinged!

The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton

Karen Hamilton’s THE PERFECT GIRLFRIEND is a frightening depiction of unbridled obsession, where love and pure hatred grapple on a knife edge. The perfect new psychological thriller for fans of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl.

Juliette loves Nate.
She will follow him anywhere. She’s even become a flight
attendant for his airline, so she can keep a closer eye on him.

They are meant to be.
The fact that Nate broke up with her six months ago means nothing.
Because Juliette has a plan to win him back.

She is the perfect girlfriend.
And she’ll make sure no one stops her from
getting exactly what she wants.

True love hurts, but Juliette knows it’s worth all the pain…

Duffy’s Thoughts On The Perfect Girlfriend

I don’t even know where to start with this book! It’s far more than a story about a woman obsessed. There is a backstory, only lightly touched on, which gives you an insight into how Juliette came to be, yet there is something left lingering int he shadows which makes you think that young Juliette was always set on a dark path.

Karen Hamilton has written a character who is mentally unstable and obsessed, yet she is incredibly smart and plans meticulously. The comments and actions of Juliette have an aura of coldness about them and she can go from utter love and devotion to pure driven hate in a heartbeat. The Perfect Girlfriend was an addictive read, and although I felt the last third dipped it’s toe a little too far into crazy land, I enjoyed it nonetheless.

3.5 out of 5 from me.  If you loved You by Caroline Kepnes, you’ll thoroughly enjoy The Perfect Girlfriend.
