5 ted talks to get you out of your funk

5 TED Talks To Watch When You’re In A Funk

It’s January and we are all meant to have a grand plan for 2018 and shout across social media about how excited we are about it. But, what if you don’t have a plan? What if you have an ‘idea’, but you haven’t quite got over the indulgence and laziness of the season to get going yet?

Fear not! I’ve pulled together some of my favourite TED talks to get you out of your PJ’s and moving towards your goals, whatever they may be, and you don’t need to move from the couch to watch them! I’ve also chosen talks which are all around the ten minute or less mark, so you can bookmark this page and dip into a video a day, or whenever you have a coffee break.

Enjoy!

Brad Meltzer – Write Your Story, Change History

This one is all about concentrating on what you’re doing, and not comparing yourself to someone else. Changing the lives of many is just as important as changing the life of one if, that change is for good.

Andy Puddicombe – All It Takes Is 10 Mindful Minutes

Yes, I’ve been all about mindfulness recently, but it’s something that not only I’m passionate about, it works! You don’t need to be burning incense and wearing hareem pants to do it either. Just find somewhere quiet and ‘sit’ for 10 minutes. This video is also the most amazing use of tomatoes as a presentation prop ever.

Patti Dobrowolski – Draw Your Future

Not happy where you are? Draw where you want to be! You might feel a bit silly at first, but I can assure you after Patti’s talk you’ll want to scribble a new you and write down three steps to get there. I’ll be sketching out mine and putting it in the eye line of my Mac. A fun way to get you thinking without getting all serious about it.

Matt Cutts – Try Something New For 30 Days

This is the shortest video of the bunch. Just a few minutes of common sense and a great way to get you trying something new, no matter how small. I’m going to try and cook a new meatball dish tonight, and tomorrow I’m trying a new beauty treatment. Small things to make me feel good.

Emilie Wapnick – Why Some Of Us Don’t Have One True Calling

This talk resonated with me the most. I never had one burning dream as a kid. I never went to school wanting to be a writer, the internet wasn’t even around, so blogging was a word I didn’t know. This smart, inspirational talk is all about using the talent you have and the skills you’ve learnt, to do ALL of the things!
