The Regulars

The Regulars is a quick witted, politically well timed novel about a trio of 20 somethings in New York who, for different reasons, feel that what they have is not enough. Evie, the main character, is a copy editor for a trashy mag. Willow is arty and incredibly insecure, despite her fathers wealth and Krista, well Krista is hot mess, who was quite annoying at times (I have to confess, I skipped over a few of her more annoying parts).

The trio discover ‘pretty’ and explore for themselves what it’s really like to be super hot and popular; is it really what it’s cracked up to be?

This book definitely has taken influence from Gossip Girl, Girls and the L-Word. It’s smart, it’s fast, it’s topical, but I just came away thinking that it has all been done before. The masses will absolutely devour it though for sure!

3 out of 5 for me. If you are a fan of Amy Schumer or Sex & The City you will rate this The Regulars!!

The Book Blurb

GIRLS meets BRIDGET JONES’ DIARY (with a magical twist) in this fierce and hilarious women’s fiction debut, as three average girls become extraordinarily beautiful and have all their fantasies come true … or do they?

Best friends Evie, Krista and Willow are just trying to make it through their mid-twenties in New York. They’re regular girls with typical quarter life crises: making it up the corporate ladder, making sense of online dating, and making rent.

Until they come across Pretty, a magic tincture that makes them, well …gorgeous. Like, supermodelgorgeous. With a single drop, each young woman gets the gift of jaw-dropping beauty for one week, presenting them with unimaginable opportunities to make their biggest fantasies come true.

But there’s a dark side to Pretty, too, and as the gloss fades for these modern-day Cinderellas, there’s just one question left: What would you sacrifice to be Pretty?
