Book Review Let Me Lie – Do You Ever Really Know Someone?
Duffy’s Review Of Let Me Lie
Let Me Lie is a carefully crafted, well-paced thriller which leads you one way and then bam! Hits you in the face with a killer twist. Readers will be drawn to Anna, full of empathy for her as she comes to terms with the sudden, tragic, and very public loss of both of her parents. As Anna starts to dig up the past, she is confronted with more questions than answers and the reader is lead to suspect almost everyone.
I read thrillers all the time and love a good plot twist. I can usually see the twist coming, and not having a clue where the book was going with Let Me Lie, was a real treat. You can tell that author Clare Mackintosh spent time in the police force, due to the care taken with the tiniest detail; the twists start ever so subtle and she drops hints and clues along the way. I read the first 50pages in one sitting and then when I settled down for the second sitting I didn’t move until I read the last page. The last third of the book was intense and addictive, I wasn’t moving until I knew the outcome and I was gripped right up until the last line.
If you love Gillian Flynn or any of the recent suspense fiction in ‘The Girl….’ genre, you’ll love Let Me Lie.
